Dirty Headlights

Some things are just good reminders. This is something I wrote a little over a year ago.

And here I sat… Waiting for my car to finish a long overdue oil change.. And for the first time in the 2+ years I’ve owned my vehicle the gentleman asked me “do you want me to fix those headlights up for ya?”  Haha, it’s the little things right?! Of course I was excited and said YES!!! You see for almost 2 years I’ve been driving with some very dirty headlights. Dirty headlights?? Really?? What’s the big deal you ask?  Well… Unless you’ve driven the road between San Angelo and Houston as often as I have in the late evening hours, you may not understand the importance of clear headlights. The worst part is, I didn’t really think there was much I could do about them. Isn’t that how we live so often??  Going through life with a very dim view, unsure of where we are going, why we are here, or even how to navigate through the day?!  This is where God comes in… He is the light guiding us on the roads ahead. He is the light that shines ahead in the path of life.. Whether it’s one step or one mile, He is the only One that can light your way… Yet we walk around with scum and other build up that dims that light… We don’t even think to clean our minds and hearts everyday.. To check for the dirty spots that may interfere with the clear light. We think this is just how it’s supposed to be. We see others going forward without fear or question and wonder why we do not see as clearly. Well, maybe it’s time to change those headlights!! Maybe it’s time to consider that something maybe clouding the view of the path He is lighting… Maybe it’s time to truly consider that there IS something better.  There IS more clarity. There IS more direction.

What clouds the viewer the path before you? What interferes with God as a priority in your life? What keeps the Light of world (Jesus) from shining clearly in front of you?

Always

April
